Ingredients

Person(s)
  • 1/2 cup
    Unsalted butter
  • 6 ounces
    Semi-sweet chocolate
  • 1 cup
    Granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup
    Light brown sugar
  • 3 large
    Egg
  • 1 tsp
    Vanilla Extract
  • 1/2 cup
    All-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup
    Unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp
    Salt
  • 1/2 tsp
    Baking Powder
Directions
  • Prepare the Oven and Baking Dish

Preheat your oven to 350°F. Grease an 8-inch square baking dish or similar-sized oven-safe dish with butter or nonstick cooking spray.

  • Make the Chocolate Batter

In a microwave-safe bowl or over a double boiler, melt the butter and chopped chocolate together until smooth. Let cool slightly. Whisk in the granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until fully combined. Add the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder. Stir gently until no dry streaks remain. Do not overmix.

  • Bake the Pudding Cake

Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly. Bake for 30–35 minutes, until the edges are set and the center is still slightly soft. A toothpick inserted near the edges should come out mostly clean, while the center should remain fudgy. Allow the cake to rest for 10 minutes before serving.

  • Serve and Enjoy

Serve warm while the center is still soft and pudding-like. Dust with powdered sugar if desired and top with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, or fresh berries for an extra-special dessert.
