Ingredients

Person(s)
  • 8 cup
    Water
  • 4 bags
    Black tea bags
  • 1 cup
    Granulated sugar
  • 4 cup
    Ice cubes
Directions
  • Boil the Water

In a medium saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a gentle boil over medium-high heat. Remove the pan from the heat once the water reaches a boil.

  • Brew the Tea

Add the tea bags to the hot water and cover the saucepan. Let the tea steep for 8–10 minutes, depending on how strong you like your tea. Remove and discard the tea bags without squeezing them, which can make the tea bitter.

  • Sweeten the Tea

While the tea is still hot, stir in the granulated sugar until completely dissolved. Pour the sweetened tea into a large pitcher. Add the remaining 4 cups of cold water and stir well. Allow the tea to cool to room temperature before refrigerating for at least 30 minutes.

  • Serve

Fill serving glasses with plenty of ice. Pour the chilled sweet tea over the ice. Garnish with fresh lemon slices and mint leaves, if desired, and serve immediately.
