- Prepare the Chicken
Slice each chicken breast horizontally to create thinner cutlets. If needed, gently pound the chicken with a meat mallet until each piece is about ½-inch thick. Season both sides of the chicken with salt and black pepper. Prepare three shallow bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs mixed with water, and one with panko breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and paprik
- Coat the Chicken
Dip each chicken cutlet into the flour, shaking off any excess. Next, coat it completely in the egg mixture, then press it firmly into the seasoned panko mixture until evenly covered. Lightly spray both sides of the breaded chicken with cooking spray to help create a crisp golden crust.
- Air Fry the Chicken
Preheat the air fryer to 375°F for 3 minutes. Place the breaded chicken pieces in a single layer inside the air fryer basket. Avoid overcrowding so the coating cooks evenly. Air fry for 8 minutes, then carefully flip the chicken and continue cooking for another 3–4 minutes until golden and crispy. The chicken should reach an internal temperature of 165°F.
- Add Sauce and Cheese
Spread marinara sauce over each crispy chicken piece. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese evenly on top. Return the chicken to the air fryer and cook at 375°F for 1–2 minutes until the cheese melts and becomes bubbly. Garnish with fresh basil before serving if desired
