Ingredients
1
Person(s)
  • 4 tbsp
    All-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp
    Granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp
    Unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 tsp
    Baking Powder
  • pinch
    Salt
  • 3 tbsp
    Milk
  • 2 tbsp
    Vegetable oil
  • 1/4 tsp
    Vanilla Extract
  • 1 tbsp
    Semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 tsp
    Mini Chocolate Chips
Directions
  • Mix the dry ingredients

Choose a microwave-safe mug that holds at least 12 ounces to give the cake enough room to rise. Add the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt directly to the mug. Stir well with a fork until the dry ingredients are evenly combined and no lumps remain.

  • Prepare the batter

Pour in the milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Stir thoroughly, scraping the bottom and sides of the mug until a smooth batter forms. Fold in the chocolate chips, distributing them evenly throughout the batter for pockets of melted chocolate.

  • Microwave the cake

If desired, sprinkle the remaining chocolate chips on top. Microwave the mug cake on high power for 60–90 seconds, checking after 60 seconds. The cake is done when the top appears set and springs back lightly when touched. Cooking times may vary depending on your microwave.

  • Rest and serve

Allow the mug cake to rest for 1 minute before serving. Enjoy it warm directly from the mug, or top it with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, or fresh berries for an extra indulgent dessert.
