  • 2

    Shredded Mexican-style cheese blend
  • 1 cup
    Shredded lettuce
  • 1 medium
    Tomato
  • 1/4 cup
    Sliced green onions
Directions
  • Prepare the Taco Filling

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly grease a standard sheet pan or line it with parchment paper for easy cleanup. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the diced onion and cook for 3–4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until softened and translucent. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon, until browned and fully cooked. Drain any excess grease if necessary. Sprinkle in the chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Stir well so the spices evenly coat the meat. Add the tomato sauce and water, then simmer for 2–3 minutes until the mixture thickens slightly and becomes rich and flavorful. Remove from the heat and let the filling cool for a few minutes.

  • Assemble the Taco Crunch Melt

Roll out one tube of refrigerated pizza dough and gently stretch it to fit the bottom of the prepared sheet pan. Press the dough lightly into the corners and edges to create an even base. Sprinkle 1 cup of the shredded Mexican-style cheese evenly over the dough. Spread the seasoned taco meat mixture over the cheese layer in an even layer. Scatter the lightly crushed tortilla chips evenly over the beef. This crunchy layer creates the signature texture that makes every bite incredibly satisfying. Sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of shredded cheese over the tortilla chips to help bind the layers together during baking. Roll out the second tube of pizza dough and carefully place it over the filling. Gently stretch it to cover the entire surface, then pinch the edges together with the bottom crust to completely seal the filling inside.

  • Bake Until Golden Brown

Using a sharp knife, cut several small vents in the top crust to allow steam to escape while baking. Place the sheet pan in the preheated oven and bake for 18–20 minutes, or until the crust is beautifully golden brown and fully cooked. The cheese inside should be melted and bubbly, while the crust becomes crisp and flaky. Remove the taco crunch melt from the oven and allow it to rest for 5 minutes before slicing. This helps the filling set and makes serving much easier.

  • Garnish & Serve

Top the warm taco crunch melt with shredded lettuce, diced tomato, and sliced green onions for a fresh, colorful finish. Slice into squares and serve immediately with sour cream, salsa, sliced avocado, pickled jalapeños, or fresh cilantro on the side. Each bite delivers crispy crust, seasoned beef, melted cheese, and crunchy tortilla chips for the ultimate taco-inspired comfort food.
